BEHAVIOUR TECHNICIAN  (IN HOME)

POSITION SUMMARY:


This position is for a Monday-Friday 430-630 therapy session with a client on the Autism Spectrum implementing the principles of ABA therapy. Potential applicants should be independent and comfortable being in a home setting. There is a possibility for additional hours with IN CENTRE therapy sessions. 


Our IN HOME Behavioral Technicians will provide clinical instruction and behavior reduction protocols (based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis) to clients with Autism and related developmental disabilities in the home, community, and school settings. 

Our Behavioral Technicians are responsible for collecting data on programs, assisting the Clinic

Supervisor with clinical assessments as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provides direct in-home client care in 1:1 utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.

  • Follows the prescribed behavioural skill acquisition and behaviour reduction

protocols.

  • Follows and records data for prescribed toilet training protocols.

  • Collects, records, and summarizes data on observable client behaviour.

  • Effectively communicates with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as

instructed by the Clinic Supervisor.

  • Maintains client confidentiality.

  • Assists in preparing client materials as instructed.

  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop knowledge and skill sets

accordingly.

  • Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at one

time.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers,

and supervisors

  • Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of

ethics as indicated by the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board

  • Commitment to maintain client confidentiality

  • Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to clinical skills,

professional development, ethics, and technology, and training in order to perform

job responsibilities to required standards.


BASIC & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting,

crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.


  • Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.

  • Immunization Vaccine Required

  • Vulnerable Criminal Background Check Required


EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: None

  • Preferred: Experience working with children ages 0-16 providing in a classroom or

1:1 setting; experience implementing the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis;

Educational, or Speech, experience


EDUCATION:

  • Required: High School Diploma

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, Applied Behavior

Analysis, or related field.


REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

  • Employment Supervisor: Owner & Clinic Manager

  • Clinical Supervisor: Clinic Supervisor (BCBA) through meetings/emails
